Irish CSO Milk & Milk Products Supply Balance - 13 July 2012
Production of drinking milk and buttermilk for 2011 increased by 0.6% to 544,000
tonnes.
Drinking Milk and Buttermilk production increased by 0.6% in 2011
Butter production increased by 8.0% in 2011, bringing production to 149,000 tonnes. Butter exports at 145,000 tonnes were up 6.6% on 2010 levels. See Table 1 and graph. [For Table 1, please download the document]
Production of cheese increased by 4.7% to 180,000 tonnes in 2011, of which
92.8% or 167,000 tonnes was exported. See Table 1 and graph.
A comparison of the 2010 and the 2011 figures shows that (See Table 1):
- Production of cream remained unchanged at 21,000 tonnes.
- Production of Milk Powder increased by 11.7% to 105,000 tonnes.
