Irish CSO: Agricultural Price Indices - October 2012
The agricultural output price index increased by 1.2% in October 2012 compared
with September 2012.Agricultural Price Indices

Agricultural Output Price Index up 1.2% in October 2012
The agricultural output price index increased by 1.2% in October 2012 compared
with September 2012. The agricultural input price index increased by 0.9% over
the same period. Thus, the resulting terms of trade index increased by 0.3% in
October 2012.
On an annual basis, the agricultural output price index in October 2012 was 5.8%
higher than in October 2011. The agricultural input price index was up 7.9% in
October 2012 compared with October 2011.
A further comparison of the October 2012 sub-indices with October 2011 shows
that:
- Potatoes (incl. seeds), cereals (incl. seeds), pigs, eggs, poultry and cattle prices increased by 148.1%, 30.2%, 17.7%, 16.5%, 14.6% and 5.6% respectively, while milk and sheep prices decreased by 7.5% and 2.5%.
- Feeding stuffs, energy, seeds and fertiliser prices increased by 15.1%, 9.8%, 8.7% and 1.6% respectively.
