British red meat and cheese showcased at US event
50 influencers have been invited to taste UK productsBuyers in the all-important US market will have the chance to sample red meat and cheese from the UK at an AHDB event in Miami this month, according to a press release from the marketing board.
Around 50 key influencers have been invited to a reception on Wednesday, November 9, organised by AHDB’s export team to help boost shipments of beef, lamb, pork and cheese.
The event is part of AHDB’s ongoing activity in the US to continue flying the flag for red meat and dairy to American consumers.
It comes just weeks after the first shipment of British lamb arrived in the US, following an agreement by US authorities to amend the ‘small ruminant’ rule which prevented the export of lamb from the UK and other countries for more than 20 years.
At next week’s reception, guests will be able to sample more than 20 British cheeses, as well as a selection of canapes before enjoying a carvery of pork, lamb and beef.
AHDB’s butcher Martin Eccles will also be at the event for a butchery demonstration to highlight the versatility and innovation of red meat from the UK.
“This market is very important to us because it provides an opportunity to export our products not just to America, but also to the Caribbean and the recently opened markets of Mexico and Chile," said AHDB’s Senior Export Manager Susana Morris.
“The reception will allow us to showcase the taste of red meat from the UK, whilst promoting our high animal welfare and husbandry, which is valued in the US, who welcome our continued low usage of antibiotics," she added.
“Exports of dairy products to America have been growing over the last few years, with more and more consumers in the US market enjoying and choosing British cheese," said AHDB Senior Export Manager for Dairy Lucy Randolph.
“This event is part of a programme of activity organised by AHDB to showcase our dairy products in the US and continue delivering huge benefits to our levy payers, who tell us they value the work of our export team," she added.
