Brazilian livestock sector may continue investments in 2025, but increases in ready-to-slaughter animals and beef supply, and also in the demand, are expected to be lower than that in 2024, according to a recent market report from Cepea

Projections for the Brazilian economy indicate a purchase power of consumers tighter than in 2024. The upward trend of exports may also be slower, even with the potential opening of new markets. It is possible that the influence of the exchange rate on the costs of production increases even more.

In the first months of the new year, the soaring dollar at the end of 2024 has influenced costs.  The population, as a result, which tends to have a tighter budget, opts for cheaper meats.

In the international scenario, China will continue to buy a lot of meat from Brazil. After China, the United States, United Arab Emirates and Chile are the most important buyers of Brazilian beef. US purchases may still remain high, considering the recovery of the livestock is ongoing. For the Middle East and Chile, an expansion is also expected.

Meanwhile, on livestock farms, the production should keep firm, but possibly advancing less than in 2024. IBGE data up to September showed an increase of 19% in the number of animals slaughtered.
