The price of the milk produced in December/24 downed 2.7% against November, on the “Brazil Average” calculated by Cepea, closing at BRL 2.5805/litre, according to a market report from Cepea

However, against December/23, values upped 21%, in real terms (IPCA December). The average in 2024 was BRL 2.6362/litre, being 1.9% above that in 2023, in real terms.

The progress of the crop and the consequent supply increase in December have been pressing down quotations, a scenario that has been observed since October/24.

The Index for Milk Production (ICAP-L) calculated by Cepea dropped 1.4% from November to December. Considering 2024, the increase was by 18.3%. The supply increase in 2024 is related to producers’ margin gains, and the increase was not even higher due to bad weather conditions.

Dairy imports dropped 4.3% in December, while exports moved up 15.5% - data from Secex.
