Agriculture Minister Doug Horner says many farmers in the province already submit the birth dates of their cattle, so a mandatory startup date of next April 1st is no longer necessary.
The age verification program was brought in after the BSE scare because animals under 36 months are believed not to get the brain-wasting disease.
