Cargill idles meat plants in three Texas cities after US cold snap
Cargill Inc said on 17 February that meat plants across the three cities will be idled through 18 February because a local utility company has restricted natural gas availability after a cold snap hit the state.
Reuters reports that Cargill hopes the facilities in Waco, Fort Worth and Round Rock, Texas, will run later this week, according to a statement.
The privately held commodity trader added that its feed, meat and agricultural supply chain networks are running at a reduced capacity or experiencing delays due to transportation problems and road conditions.
