Mexico's Beef, Live Cattle Exports Increase
MEXICO - The sales value of Mexico's beef and live cattle products rose by 397.4 million dollars between January and September 2015.Exports of bovine meat and livestock products increased 34.4 per cent between January and September 2015 compared with the same period last year, Mexico's agriculture department, SAGARPA, said.
Based on statistics from the exporters' association Mexican Beef, Mexico marketed 129,900 tons of meat products, representing an increase of 21.6 per cent.
Exports of live cattle between January and September this year amounted to about 874,900 head of cattle, up 18.1 per cent on last year.
This translates into an estimated value of 673.2 million dollars, 41.3 per cent more than in the first nine months of 2014.
Currently beef products are exported to 12 destinations from Mexico, with the main ones being the US, Japan, Hong Kong and Canada.
SAGARPA recently reported that total food exports recorded an increase of 5.7 per cent between January and August 2015 compared with last year.
