World’s Biggest Milk Producer Aims to Double Output
INDIA – India is looking to double its 2012 milk output by 2027 to keep pace with rocketing domestic demand. This will lift national yield to around 250 billion litres, analysts at Dairyco report.
Despite having small, inefficient farms, India is the world’s largest milk producer, and Dairyco added: “At farm level, plans to improve breeding technology and improved nutrition are in place.”
Production issues exist in breeding and forage, with Dairyco adding that, beyond the farmgate, grants will flow to improve processing and storage.
