Slight Drop in Average Price of Chinese Farm Produce

CHINA – The average price of Chinese farm produce fell slightly over the last week, according to a survey of 36 large and medium sized cities carried out by the Ministry of Commerce.

The price of meat fluctuated slightly, with the price of pork up 1.7 per cent and mutton and beef down 0.9 per cent and 0.3 per cent respectively compared to the previous week.

The price of eggs and chicken also fluctuated slightly, with the price of eggs up 0.8 per cent and chicken down 0.1 per cent week on week.

The price of cereal foods maintained stable, with the price of rice and flour the same as the previous week.

The market of edible oil also ran smoothly, with the price of soybean oil, rapeseed oil and peanut oil the same as the previous week.

The average price of aquatic products went up 0.1 per cent, with the prices of crucian, large yellow croaker and little yellow croaker up 1.8 per cent, 0.6 per cent and 0.2 per cent month on month respectively.

However, last week, the average price of 18 vegetables fell after a seasonal rise and went down by 2.3 per cent compared to the previous week

The prices of cucumber, green bean and lettuce were down by 10.7 per cent, 10.6 per cent and 8.1 per cent respectively.
