Bluetongue Claims Nine More Croatian Sheep
CROATIA – A further nine Croatian sheep have been wiped out by serotype four Bluetongue almost four months after the virus was first identified in the country.Cases now amount to 233 in the country’s sheep population, of which 17 have been fatal, according to reports on the outbreak from the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
The death toll now stands at 17, with sheep the worst hit species in the country.
Outbreaks have been identified in the Splitsko-Dalmatinska and Dubrovacko Neretvanska regions, with once case in Sibensko Kninska.
All cases were coastal with several close to the Bosnia and Herzegovina border.
