Nestle Commits to Bovine Traceability
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – Food and drinks company Nestle has signed an agreement to roll out a cattle traceability system across its supplying dairy farms.A commitment to promote herd health and sanitation, to be paid for by Nestle initially, will be paid by price deductions from farm cheques over a twelve week period.
Dr Toribio, general livestock director at the government signed the agreement with Claude Mamboury, chief executive of Nestle Dominica last week.
He said: "For us this is a step forward in the goal of recording and incorporates 2.5 million livestock. So far, have traced 24 000 head of cattle.”
