Bluetongue Affects 82 Cattle Across Europe this Week
EUROPE - Bluetongue has continued its spread through Serbia, Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina this week.In Romania, 29 new outbreaks have been reported on farms in the central and eastern areas of the country.
In total, 31 cattle have become infected, four sheep and four goats.
Serbia also reported a surge in cases with 300 new outbreaks. The outbreaks occurred on farms in the east of the country.
Of the thousands of livestock susceptible, the outbreaks led to 1125 cases in sheep, 51 in cattle and 15 in goats.
Blue tongue also continued its spread through Europe, affecting a farm in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Of the 180 sheep at the farm, only three cases were reported.
The serotype of this outbreak has yet to be determined.
