Further Case of Bluetongue in Italian Hotspot
ITALY – Another Bluetongue outbreak has been confirmed in a herd near Cisterna di Latina in the Lazio region of central Italy.The notification pertains to five cattle which yielded positive results for the virus from a herd of 35. The holding is another on a growing list of outbreaks in the central west region.
Seroneutralization tests were carried out at the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute, according to a report from the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
The announcement is the second this month, although somewhat smaller than previous notifications which have implicated hundreds of cattle with the virus.
Monitoring and screening measures are being applied.
