Whey Included in Carbon Leakage Scheme
EU – Whey and all modified powder forms have been included in the ‘carbon leakage’ scheme by the European Commission.

The scheme acknowledges the difficulties of reducing Whey industry emissions, listing growing trade and imports from low-cost manufacturing nations and modest profit margins as limitations.
The rule, to be passed on 18 December 2014, will apply across powder, granules and all solid forms, whether concentrated or sweetened.
