Daily Dairy Trading: Spot Market Closes Mostly Higher, Friday
US – Traders suggested prices had been slack in dairy commodity prices, bidding up much of the market on Friday.Cheddar Barrels led with gains of three cents, climbing to $1.8300 as Barrels lifted 1.5 cents to $1.9250. Generally, prices are around last week’s average.
Butter was the exception, reporting three offers and a close three cents lower at $1.5700, reports the Agricultural Marketing Service at the US Department of Agriculture.
Gains of 0.50 cents were reported for Nonfat Dry Milk Grade A and NDM Extra Grade, leaving prices on $2.0800 and $2.0450 respectively.
Futures settled mostly higher, closing up ten cents and four cents for December Class III and IV milk, finishing on $19.02 and $21.46.
December Cheese lifted one cent/pound to $1.8730 and Nonfat Dry Milk edged up to $1.9468.
Butter closed 0.20 cents higher, finalising at $1.6340.
Whey bucked the trend, falling from $0.5898 to $0.5875.
