Lower Prices Force Beef Export Volumes Up
ARGENTINA - Argentine exports of beef in July were slightly higher than in June but considerably higher over the first seven months of the years compared to the same period in 2012.

The rise in exports in volume was 7.7 per cent in July compared to June and 37.9 per cent over the seven months compared to the previous year, according to the Department of Statistics and Economics of IPCVA.
Shipments of chilled, frozen and processed beef reached just over 12,000 tonnes, valued at $88.6 million in July, with chilled boneless cuts achieving a price of about $9,064 per tonne, frozen boneless cuts $5,455 per tonne and processed meat $6,386 per tonne.
The value for exports in July was 0.7 per cent up on June and 20.4 per cent higher than in July 2012.
However, the average export price for the seven months to July was 12.7 per cent lower than a year ago. The downward trend in prices forced up exports volumes according to the beef promotion body, concluded the IPCVA.
