OIE Reports More FMD Outbreaks in Russia
RUSSIA - The Russian veterinary authorities have reported three further outbreaks of foot and mouth disease, serotype A, in Amurskaya Oblast and Krasnodarskiy Kray.

The World Organisation for Animal Health received follow-up report no. 2 on 1 July 2013. The outbreak was first observed on 3 June 2013 and confirmed on 8 June. The affected population consists of cattle, sheep/goats and swine.
In the case of cattle, 301 animals were found susceptible, out of which 37 cases were reported. No deaths were recorded and no animals were destroyed.
A total of 266 pigs showed signs of susceptibility, but no animals were found affected. No deaths were reported and no animals were destroyed.
According to the OIE, the source of infection in Amurskaya Oblast is being established. An epidemiological investigation is being conducted. Distance from the State border is 15 meters. Watering place is on the Amur River.
As for the outbreaks in Krasnodarskiy Kray, the source of infection is also being established and an epidemiological investigation is being conducted.
However, the source of the outbreaks still remains inconclusive.
