Dairy Crest and Arla Announce Milk Price Increases
UK – Two dairy cooperatives have announced liquid milk price increases, referring to improved performance and rising global demand as reasons for a welcome increase in farmgate values.

European cooperative, Arla Foods Amba has announced a milk price lift of 1.06 ppl for farmers in the Arla Milk Link group leaving standard litres prices at 30.21 ppl.
Taking effect on 29 April, the increase will be realised in May, one month before another price rise from English company Dairy Crest which has promised a 1.5 ppl rise from 1 June.
This will take Dairy Crest Direct, non-aligned liquid contracts to 31.5 ppl.
Both companies point towards lower milk production for the increases as supply issues pressurebuying.
"The start of the new milk year has not been easy for farmers and milk supply is not surprisingly becoming tighter,” said DairyCrest Group Procurement Dierector, Mike Sheldon. “Markets are now responding and this upward movement will also be reflected in the milk price generated through our Formula Contract over the coming months."
