Anthrax Kills Cattle Near Moree
AUSTRALIA - An outbreak of anthrax near Moree, in north-west NSW, has killed a total of 37 cattle on two properties, prompting a Department of Primary Industries investigation.

ABC reports that this is the state's first outbreak of bovine anthrax since 2009 and the department says it's of serious concern.
Spores may have come to the surface after recent rains.
A horse has also died on one of the quarantined properties, but it wasn't tested for anthrax.
Chief veterinary officer with the NSW Department of Primary Industries, Ian Roth, says anthrax usually first presents with dead stock.
"Animals are generally found dead; it kills them fairly quickly and you can see blood from the orifices - the nose and that type of thing.
"And they tend to decompose fairly quickly too."
