Dairy Production Increases 13.6 per cent
UKRAINE - The Agricultural Minister, Mykola Prysiazhniuk , has praised the developing dairy sector after January to November milk production for 2012 increased 13.6 per cent on 2011 figures.
The dairy products trade surplus for January to November was stood at USD$ 347.4 million. Total dairy exports reached 144.5 million tons worth USD$ 508.1 million dollars, according to the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysiazhniuk.
Cheese products took the largest share of exports at 62,500 tons amounting to 43.3 per cent of all dairy products exported.
Condensed milk exports have been confirmed to have been 22,300 tons for the period. The Ministry of Agriculture has attributed these figures to the growth in milk production witnessed over the 11 months.
Processed liquid milk totalled 843,000 tons increasing by 6.4 per cent. Butter increased by 15.2 per cent to 82,500 thousand tons. The production of unprocessed cheese and dairy products stood at 71,800 thousand tons, and the production of dairy products increased by 3.4 per cent reaching 449,000 tons.
Agriculture Minister, Mykokla Prysiazhniuk, stressed the importance of livestock farming, and in particular dairy farming, to the Ukrainian economy.
