Sanitary Protocol Signed Between Brazil and Venezuala

BRAZIL – The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply has signed a sanitary agreement to allow the continued export of live animals from Brazil to Venezuela.

José Carlos Vaz, executive secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, has stated that market transparency is offered to consumers and foreign buyers and that there are safety control mechanisms in the Brazilian cattle food chain.

He has reminded traders that the World Organisation for Animal Health has allowed Brazil to retain its ‘negligible’ risk of BSE and that the Paraná scare in 2010 is an isolated case.

The security of trade to Venezuela is was worth BRL$388 million between January and November 2012.
