Spain Amends Quota Management System
SPAIN - The Council of Ministers approved a Royal Decree amending the current standard requirements relating to the milk quota management system in Spain.
The national milk quota for Spain includes various increases that have been apportioned to Spain by the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) 'health check'.
The Government has made alterations to how milk quota is assigned to the country's farmers. Temporarily producers can take part in a system where they can increase or decrease their quota for free on an annual basis.
The aim of this is to allow farmers to manage the output of their herd across the seasons with regard to water usage.
