According to the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporters (Abiec) exports are expected to rise to about 105,000 tons.

The association said that the devaluation of the real, an increase in sales to Russia and Iran and the return of the export of by products to the European Union are among the reasons for the forecast increase.

The association also said that the growth in sales volumes to Chile, Libya and Venezuela have also played a part.

According to a spokesperson for Abiec, the whole of 2012 is also expected to see an increase of 10 per cent in exports.

"The factors are basically the same, since they are not isolated facts and trends," said the spokesman.
