A$1 Million Cattle Theft - Reward Offered
AUSTRALIA - A western Queensland grazier is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the return of A$1 million worth of cattle stolen from his properties. An ABC news reports says that stock squad police are investigating the theft of 860 cattle from two stations south of Tambo, between April and May this year.
Police say all abattoirs have been helpful and notices have been put around South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
Owner Scott Harris says it is a huge economic blow.
"Just roughly give or take, about A$1 million worth of cattle went. They were ready for the meatworks." he said.
"I think they were averaging - the ones that were left - around A$1,200 or A$1,300 [per head].
"We are offering up to A$100,000 reward for anyone who can lead to the recovery of the cattle and convictions of the people who took them."
