OIE: Further Schmallenberg Cases in Germany

GERMANY - Twenty eight more outbreaks of Schmallenberg virus have been reported to the OIE by Dr Karin Schwabenbauer, Ministerial Dirigentin and Chief Veterinary Officer, Germany.

The 28 new outbreaks were reported from the 23 to 27 April 2012.

The outbreaks affected cattle only and were located across the whole country with a cluster of ten outbreaks in the north.

Of the 3312 cattle susceptible, there were 21 cases leading to 19 deaths and seven destroyed.
