Opportunity for Grass Based Dairies Recognised
US - Increasing input costs and volatile milk prices continue to create uncertain profit margins for dairy farmers. DFA Grazing (formerly Dairy Grazing Services), a service provided by Dairy Farmers of America, Inc. (DFA), will host a Dairy Grazing Field Day at Cooper Dairy to allow interested dairy farmers to learn how a pasture-based approach to dairy farming can help cut costs and create a more secure profit.

Cooper Dairy, owned and operated by Andy Cooper of Morrison, Tennessee, features intensively managed pastures and a modern swing-style milking parlor that emphasises efficient milk production, reducing both feed and labor costs.
The afternoon event will feature a workshop on grazing best practices, as well as a walking tour of the dairy.
The event will take place from 12 to 5 pm today.
Mike Lamborn, DFA Grazing consultant, will discuss pasture management and how producers can incorporate these practices on the farm. Lamborn has more than 30 years of experience managing grazing operations in the United States and New Zealand.
