During the quarantine period, blood samples from the animals were tested for bluetongue at the All-Russian Scientific and Research Institute for Veterinary Virology and Microbiology.

Three animals in one of the shipments tested positive for bluetongue. The animals from other two groups were released from quarantine; seropositive animals have been isolated and will be disposed of.

The rest of the animals from the affected group will be quarantined until negative results for bluetongue are obtained twice. As it was reported, bluetongue antibodies were detected in cattle brought from Germany to Smolensk and Kaluga Oblasts.
