After touring a facility where cattle are held before export, he held a round table discussion with the export industry.

He said that the sector was facing a strategic challenge in sustaining exports.

"The increased global demand for live cattle and beef offers excellent proposals for the sector," Mr Le Maire said.

He highlighted that an increase in beef exports would increase the price of cattle and beef paid to producers - who with increasing costs of production are in urgent need of a price increase.

He said it was warming to see so many of the industry gather to discuss this important issue.

Conlcuding he reiterated his full commitment to helping the beef industry. It is expected that a framework agreement will be signed in early November, highlighting a new collective era for beef exports.
