Commercial Red Meat Production in November
US - Commercial red meat production for the United States totaled 4.33 billion pounds in November, up 9 per cent from the 3.96 billion pounds produced in November 2009, according to the USDA.

Beef production, at 2.24 billion pounds, was 11 per cent above the previous year. Cattle slaughter totaled 2.88 million head, up 11 per cent from November 2009. The average live weight was up 1 pound from the previous year, at 1,299 pounds.
Veal production totaled 11.3 million pounds, 4 per cent below November a year ago. Calf slaughter totaled 72,900 head, down 10 per cent from November 2009. The average live weight was up 23 pounds from last year, at 269 pounds.
Pork production totaled 2.07 billion pounds, up 8 per cent from the previous year. Hog kill totaled 9.97 million head, up 5 per cent from November 2009. The average live weight was up 6 pounds from the previous year, at 278 pounds.
January to November 2010 commercial red meat production was 44.7 billion pounds, down 1 per cent from 2009. Accumulated beef production was up 1 per cent from last year, veal was down 2 per cent, pork was down 3 per cent from last year, and lamb and mutton production was down 4 per cent.
November 2009 contained 21 weekdays (including two holidays) and 4 Saturdays.
November 2010 contained 22 weekdays (including two holidays) and 4 Saturdays.
