29 New FMD Outbreaks in South Korea
SOUTH KOREA - The Korean veterinary authorities have reported twenty-nine reports of foot and mouth disease in Andong City, affecting cattle and pigs.The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 2 yesterday, 8 December.
The report states that a total of 1488 cattle and 16570 pigs were found susceptible. Out of 1488, 53 cases were identified in cattle, and in the case of pigs, three cases were observed. Out of the entire affected cattle population, 1299 animals were destroyed, and all 16570 pigs were destroyed.
The source of the outbreak remains inconclusive.
