The Conference, sponsored by Dairy Australia, WestSide AB and Rural Skills Australia, will bring together an array of industry experts to discuss latest developments in the dairy industry and the future of dairy in Western Australia.

WAFarmers Dairy Section President, Peter Evans, notes that dairy producers and industry representatives would find the Conference very interesting and beneficial to their businesses.

“The WAFarmers Annual Dairy Conference will provide an insight into current research and technology that will directly impact dairy farmers in the medium-term.” “Sessions on succession planning, value in the supply chain and weather patterns are also equally applicable to beef producers.

“It is also a great networking opportunity and I thoroughly recommend attendance at the Conference for anyone interested in WA’s dairy industry.”

Speakers at the Conference include Rob Delane, Director General for the Department of Agriculture and Food WA, outlining Minister Terry Redman’s five point priority plan for agriculture; David Nation, Chief Executive Officer of the Dairy Futures Cooperative Research Centre, discussing current research in the industry; and Neil Bennett, Manager of Media and Community Relations from the Bureau of Meteorology discussing changing weather patterns. A panel session will also take place in the afternoon addressing succession planning. Panel members include Richard Huston, lawyer, author and farmer from Kojonup; Angus Smith, Partner and Director of RSM Bird Cameron; and local farmers. Registrations close on Thursday July 15, 2010.
