A revised list of approved plants for the export of pork has been received by the British embassy in Seoul. BPEX export manager Jean-Pierre Garnier said, "Although this has been a long time coming, this is indeed good news for our sector. There are 23 premises on the list, 15 processing plants and 8 cold stores.

"Korea used to be an important export market for us taking 1,774 tonnes, worth up to £2.2 million in 2005. Korea is one of the world's major pork importers, purchasing up to 300,000 tonnes a year. We are now looking to capitalize on this opportunity."
