Dairy Farmers Tackle Environmental Issues
UK - The British dairy industry association, Dairy UK, has launched a drive to raise awareness on how the sector has been tackling environmental issues.

The Director general of DAiry UK, Jim Begg said the industry has already made progress on rectifying the effects the industry is having on the environment.
Concerns surround methane emissions and environmental problems with slurry.
According to a report in The Scotsman, Mr Begg, speaking at Sorbie Farm, near Ardrossan, Ayrshire, said: "We are aware that we have to be in line with what our customers want and we do not want the government to impose regulations on us."
He said that research work being would see a 20 per cent cut in emissions of methane gas by the ruminating cow. This, he said, could be achieved through improved knowledge of the animal's diet.
The event's host, Alan Hogarth, who keeps 250 dairy cows at Sorbie Farm, is pioneering the use of an anaerobic digester to produce energy from the slurry they create, The Scotsman's report says.
