Paranà Back in Export Market
BRAZIL - The state of Paranà in Brazil is returning to the export market after three years. The Russian authorities have approved four beef processing plants and coldstores for export.
The four plants slaughter about 3,000 animals a day and the exports are expected to be worth about US$25 million a month - or nearly US$300 million a year.
The official documents approving the plants were expected to be delivered to the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture this week, according to the Brazilian Beef Export Association, ABIEC.
The four plants are the Mercosul plants in Londrina and Paiçanda, the JBS plant in Maringà and the Margen plant in Paranavaì.
The Paranà minister for agriculture and supply said that the plants had quickly made the improvements to meet the Russian demands after the export suspension was lifted by Russia in November last year.
