Thirty-Eight Dairy Farmers Elected to DFA Board of Directors
US - Thirty-eight dairy farmers were elected to the corporate board of directors of Dairy Farmers of America, Inc. (DFA) today at its 10th Annual Meeting in Kansas City, Mo. Of those elected, 30 were re-elected to DFA’s 51-member board, and eight joined as new directors. Board members serve two-year terms and provide leadership for the cooperative.“One of the cornerstones of any cooperative is its member-owned leadership,” says Tom Camerlo, of Florence, Colo., chairman of DFA’s Board of Directors. “Our directors make a huge commitment not only to DFA but to the entire dairy industry. Their passion, integrity and good judgment are critical to our success.”
Eleven corporate directors were elected from the Central Area Council, representing more than 3,300 farms in 10 states. Newly elected to the board was Charles Untz from Lake Mills, Wis. Ten directors were re-elected including: Craig Edler, Browntown, Wis.; Larry Frederick, Baring, Mo.; Bill Herr, Greenwood, Wis.; Dan Kerschen, Garden Plain, Kan.; Steve Matthees, Goodhue, Minn.; Doug Nuttelman, Stromsburg, Neb.; Larry Shover, Delhi, Iowa; Bill Siebenborn, Trenton, Mo.; Rod Wenstrom, Fergus Falls, Minn.; and Rob Wonderlich, Ollie, Iowa.
Seven corporate directors were re-elected from the Mideast Area Council, representing more than 2,000 farms in seven states, including: Tom Croner, Berlin, Pa.; Don Gurtner, Fremont, Ind.; Doug Krickenbarger, West Alexandria, Ohio; Urban Mescher, Maria Stein, Ohio; Dwight Nash, Elsie, Mich.; Jerry Peterson, Harbor Beach, Mich.; and Terry Rowlett, Campbellsburg, Ky.
Two corporate directors were elected from the Mountain Area Council, representing more than 400 farms in eight states, including newly elected Brian Hardy, Brigham City, Utah; and re-elected Les Hardesty, Greeley, Colo.
Two corporate directors were re-elected from the Northeast Area Council, representing more than 1,500 farms in 10 states, including Joyce Bupp, Seven Valleys, Pa.; and Ed Schoen, Phelps, N.Y.
Nine corporate directors were elected from the Southeast Area Council, representing more than 2,400 farms in 16 states, including newly elected George Rohrer, Dayton, Va., and Jerry Spencer, Sulphur Springs, Texas. Seven were re-elected including: Ryan Anglin, Bentonville, Ark.; James “Mickey” Childers, Somerville, Ala.; Glen Easter; Laurens, S.C.; Mike Ferguson, Senatobia, Miss.; Randy Mooney, Rogersville, Mo.; Lloyd Phillips, Radford, Va.; and Larry Purdom, Purdy, Mo.
Four corporate directors were elected from the Southwest Area Council, representing more than 400 farms in five states, including newly elected Greg Mitchell, Pecos, Texas. Three were re-elected including Keith Broumley, Hico, Texas; Buster Goff, Hobbs, N.M.; and Dan Senestraro, Johnson, Kan.
Three new corporate directors were elected from the Western Area Council, representing more than 300 farms in three states, including Pete Mensonides, Turlock, Calif.; Bill Van Leeuwen, Corona, Calif; and Case Van Steyn, Galt, Calif.
Eight directors retired from DFA’s board and were recognized for their service. They include Bob Bown, Fayette, Utah; Davis Denman, Cortland, Ohio; Steve Hofman, Ripon, Calif.; Ron Johnsrud, Gays Mills, Wis.; S.L. Jones, Quitman, Ga.; Gordon McCool, Gilmer, Texas; Joe T. Parker, Pulaski, Tenn.; and Ray Veldhuis, Winton, Calif.
