Positive News for Cattle Markets

AUSTRALIA - The rainfall deluge that inundated parts of inland Queensland and forced the cancellation of last week’s Roma and Emerald cattle sales, is expected to lead to increased demand for livestock in coming weeks.

Agents expect demand to increase in the next month as restockers seek cattle to make use of plentiful green feed.

Landmark Roma branch manager, Rod Turner, anticipates plenty of competition in coming weeks.

“You’ll find many people want to restock from southern states and locally,” Mr Turner said.

“Prices will be firm to dearer and a lot more northern cattle will come south because of demand.

“The last three sales of January have been weather affected and there’s a backlog of cattle and people have to pay bills.”

NLRS manager, Travis Parcsi, said cattle would be gaining weight and vendors would start selling prime cattle to slaughter rather than to store markets, which might cause demand to outstrip supply.
