Blizzards impact local economy
US - The recent blizzards have caused the deaths of thousands of cattle, and the economic impact of the deaths could be felt beyond the cattle industry. Preliminary estimates say cattle losses are at 3,500 in Colorado alone. The National Cattlemen's Association thinks the number is higher. They say as many as 15,000 cattle could have died following the storms.Crowley doesn't expect beef prices to go up significantly. He says beef prices could go up between five and 15 cents a pound. Crowley believes any price jump should only last for a short time.
