Canada Confirms Its Fifth Case of Mad-Cow Disease
CANADA - Canada confirmed its fifth case of mad-cow disease, creating more problems for a domestic beef industry that has lost billions of dollars because of the livestock illness. Tests on samples from a 6-year-old dairy cow from British Columbia confirmed the presence of the brain-wasting disease, clinically known as bovine spongiform encephalopathy, or BSE, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency said today.
