Call for any milk price rise to benefit farmers
AUSTRALIA - Queensland's peak dairy group says farmers should benefit from any increase in the price of milk for consumersDairy consultant Bill Naughtin says farmers are having major problems securing reliable feed supplies and it could affect production next year.
The chief executive officer of the Queensland Dairy Farmers Organisation, Adrian Peake, says some processors have already increased the price of milk in supermarkets.
"They've negotiated an arrangement with their clients, including Woolworths, to pass back an increased price back to [the] farm gate and the industry bodies such as ours welcomes that move," he said.
