NSW Farmers’ Association Dairy Committee Chairman Adrian Drury says Mr Roberts has a demanding role and wishes him all the best in his term as Chairman.

“The Dairy Industry has many large issues confronting it in the coming years including the Dairy Service Levy and the reduction of milk production due to the drought,” Mr Drury said.

“However the Association is confident Mr Roberts has the experience and knowledge to equip him in his role as Chairman and we look forward to working with him,” Mr Drury said.

Mr Roberts has been involved in the dairy industry since 1982. He is a Director and Deputy Chair of Bega Cheese. Mr Roberts was the Chairman of the NSW Farmers’ Association Dairy Committee from 2001-2003 and has also been a Board member.

The Association would also like to acknowledge the work of outgoing Chairman Pat Rowley. Mr Rowley stepped down from the position at Dairy Australia’s AGM, after three years as its inaugural Chairman.

“Pat Rowley has always been a strong advocate of the dairy industry – with his involvement spanning half a century,” Mr Drury said.

Mr Rowley served on the Australian Dairy Farmers Board for 27 years and was President for 18 years. He was also Chairman of the Australian Dairy Industry Council and President of the Queensland Dairy Farmers.

Dairy Australia is the Research and Development Corporation (RDC) responsible for supporting the dairy industry in Australia.

Dairy Australia has an annual budget of over $50million that is distributed across a range of projects including international trade, farm productivity, national marketing and value chain innovation.
