Indian beef exports to increase
AUSTRALIA - The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has forecast Indian beef and buffalo meat production to increase by 5.2%, to 2.5 million tonnes, in 2007, as a result of strong economic growth and export demand.Calendar year 2006 carabeef exports are expected to increase by 11% to 690,000 tonnes carcase weight (cwt), with most of the increase confined to emerging markets such as Africa and the Commonwealth Independent States, and traditional markets such as Malaysia, the Philippines, and the Middle East.
