American Feed Rules Extended 60 Days

18 March 2009

US - The April 27 implementation deadline of BSE feed rule amendments prohibiting the use of high-risk cattle material in feed for all animal species will be extended 60 days.

According to the American Meat Institute, this latest move falls in accordance with an Executive Order issued by White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel immediately following the president's inauguration.

That order directed agencies to review rules not yet implemented, to consider extending the implementation date by 60 days, and if the implementation date is extended, to allow for 30 days of additional public comment.
