CSK, producer of dairy cultures, rennets and cheese coatings, previously announced that it is looking for a new strategic alliance with the aim of accelerating the company’s growth. The sale of the company to a new shareholder was also investigated. This process led to the acquisition of CSK by DSM.

Hans Meeuwis, President FrieslandCampina Dairy Essentials, said: "We are pleased that CSK Food Enrichment is able to further develop under the wings of the Dutch based company DSM and see a bright future for the company, which will also be of benefit to FrieslandCampina.

"Solid long-term arrangements have been made with the new owner securing a sustainable continuation of our relationship and the future availability of our unique 'Dutch heritage cultures'. This is a good outcome for all parties involved."

CSK develops and sells high-quality functional ingredients in the field of taste, texture and bio-preservation of dairy products, such as cheese, yoghurt, quark and dairy drinks. The bacterial cultures largely determine the taste and texture of cheese, yoghurt, cottage cheese and dairy drinks.

Almost all cheeses in the Netherlands contain ingredients of CSK. The company has branches in Leeuwarden and Wageningen in the Netherlands. CSK is also active in Europe and North America. The company has approximately 180 employees and a turnover of around €65 million.

Subject to customary conditions, the transaction is expected to close before the end of the year.
