Further Foot and Mouth Outbreaks in Namibia

NAMIBIA - There have been two more outbreaks of Foot and Mouth Disease in Namibia.

The outbreaks occurred in two populations of village cattle in the Zambezi region in north east Namibia.

36 cattle from 4 different kraals at Shaile-Kweha Island were found to have lesions suspected of foot and mouth disease. The total cattle population of the village is 849.

Three out of a population of 604 were found to have lesions suspected of foot and mouth disease. The cattle are salivating and have blisters and ulcers on tongues, dental pads and inter-digital spaces.
