Italy and Romania Report More Blueongue as Over 300 Sheep Die
EUROPE – Bluetongue disease notifications have flooded in from Romania and Italy this week, confirming over 300 deaths in sheep.

Most fatalities have been reported in Italy, where Bluetongue became further established in Lazio and the southern region of Calabria.
In Italy, a total of 326 sheep have perished, according to World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) updates.
Bluetongue has not become a problem in northern Italy but in central and south west Italy the problem is rife.
Similarly, Romanian cases are focused on the centre and south east of the country, with cases appearing in the north east more recently.
The disease is affecting sheep, cattle and goat farms in both countries.
Romanian farmers have lost three sheep and one cow and now the eastern border zone with Moldova is threatened with confirmation from a farm in Botosoni Count and several in Vaslui.
