Farm Bodies to Unite on Environmental Lobbying
NEW ZEALAND – Beef and Sheep farmers now have a unified voice on environmental issues and regional policy following an agreement between Federated Farmers and Beef and Lamb New Zealand. The contracts stems from an extra policy drive for sustainability for B+L NZ, which includes using the regional policy network of Federated Farmers.
This is according to Federated Farmers chief executive Dr Champion, who added: “We think this is the most efficient way of using sheep and beef farmers’ money to strengthen our voice in this important area.”
Federated Farmers chief executive Conor English said: “It makes a lot of sense to use our specialist knowledge and resources to cover off this area for sheep and beef farmers.
“Federated Farmers has a long tradition of representing farmers at the regional and national level and has a good understanding and expertise in regional council processes and freshwater science,” he said.
“We also see this as an opportunity for Beef + Lamb New Zealand and Federated Farmers to develop joint policy and to work together for the good of all farmers.”
