China Vaccinates Livestock against FMD in Tibet

CHINA - The Chinese veterinary authorities, in conjunction with the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), has reported that all livestock in Tibet have been vaccinated against foot and mouth disease (FMD).

No further outbreaks of foot and mouth disease have been reported.

According to follow-up report no. 10 sent to the OIE, a total of 1124 pigs and 51345 cattle have been vaccinated. 

The report also states that the virus sub-type has been identified as SEA 97 G2. However, the source of the outbreaks has not yet been determined.
