Global Meat Prices Stagnate Through July
GLOBAL – Global meat prices stagnated through July as decreases in pork and poultry cancelled out ovine and bovine gains.Meat averaged 173.3 points last month despite higher beef and lamb prices, according to the latest monthly update from the World Food and Agriculture Organisation.
An FAO spokesperson said: “Overall, there are signs that international prices for meat are weakening in the face of reduced import demand – especially from Asian countries – reflecting production growth and, in some cases, a build-up of domestically produced meat inventories.”
