FMD: Laboratory Confirms Foot and Mouth in Tibet

CHINA – The Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute has confirmed another outbreak of foot and mouth in Tibet.

A cow herd of over 400 head from the Quma township in the Lazi District of Rikaze has been destroyed after 20 cases were identified on Sunday 5 August.

The farmstead is close to the Nepal border, lying in the west of China now has movement restrictions and quarantine measures in place.

Earlier reports of Chinese FMD outbreaks this summer came from the central southern area of Diqing in the Xianggelila district, on Sunday 9 June.

Over 1200 cattle and around 550 pigs were destroyed after 283 cases were confirmed in a cow herd in Heping village.
